I read a lot, so I love to share my take on books I’ve enjoyed, authors I admire, and advice on fitting more reading into an already busy life. When I was a child, I lived two blocks from a public library, a place I would look back on as an incredible sanctuary. To this day, libraries represent all that is good and noble in my life. I still have a rough sketch of home library plans I drew as a 12-year-old (I am writing in that library now — talk about the power of vision!). A book allows you to lodge yourself into the mind of the author, stand in their shoes, look at the world through their eyes, and in the process, make your world so much bigger. I cannot imagine a life without books.

Tips on Reading More Books:

  1. Use a Kindle
  2. Find Books on Goodreads.com
  3. Save Money with Libby, Your Digital Librarian
  4. Make Use of Short Breaks during the Day
  5. Listen to Audiobooks
  6. Set a Goal and Have a System of Follow Through
  7. Read More Than One Book at a Time

Books hold most of the secrets of the world, most of the thoughts that men and women have had. And when you are reading a book, you and the author are alone together—just the two of you. A library is a good place to go when you feel unhappy, for there, in a book, you may find encouragement and comfort. A library is a good place to go when you feel bewildered or undecided, for there, in a book, you may have your question answered. Books are good company, in sad times and happy times, for books are people—people who have managed to stay alive by hiding between the covers of a book.
